Prompt:  Fit for a King

Preface:  My seven year-old grandson loves hockey, often attending Los Angeles Kings games with his mommy and daddy.  Today’s prompt of “Fit for a King”, immediately reminded me of his wonderful loving parents, who have given him just the right balance of love and discipline.  Without any hesitation, I believe that his parents are truly “Fit for a King”. 

(I’m not just saying this because he is my grandson.  He may be my grandson in my heart, but he is not my grandson by blood; and his amazing father is not my son, but my stepson.  While I humorously attempt to take credit for my grandson’s intelligence, thoughtfulness and good looks, I know it’s not me – credit is to be awarded to my stepson and his amazing wife.)

Parents Fit for a King

 A grandson is

A most special little boy

From the moment he is born

A precious bundle of joy

Wrapping you around his finger

Forever embraced in your heart

Longing for his hugs

Whenever you’re apart

When he is sick

You just want to cry

Wanting him healthy

That brave little boy

He’s grandma’s gift

A miracle from heaven

Time breezes by briskly

Suddenly he’s seven

He is well-behaved

Appreciates the love

Is respectable and noble

A true blessing from above

Displaying kindness and compassion

For others, all the rest

Wise beyond his years

He deserves the very best

Protection and guidance

From a mom and dad

Who are Fit for a King

For this amazing young lad
